Growing into the best version of yourself is no easy thing. The spiritual path is a long and windy one – with obstacles, detours, and side quests that challenge our commitment along the way. But it’s a worthy pursuit. And one that I don’t think ever really ends. Bex and I were on our individual paths for most of life so far, until those paths converged a few years ago. (To be clear, they’re still individual paths – we just bump into each other a lot more as we travel them now.) We knew we wanted to join our witchy forces and create something we could share with the world, and so Florence Divine was born.
It started as a simple umbrella that we could do our Reiki and tarot practice under. But then we began to feel like there was more we could contribute. More ways in which we could be of service. We’ve accumulated a pretty hefty toolkit over the years, moving beyond Reiki and tarot, into witchcraft, Goddess work and ritual, Sanskrit mantra, guided meditation, herbalism, women’s circles, and counselling. All super helpful stuff when it comes to personal growth, healing, and self-empowerment.
When we were trying to figure out exactly what Florence Divine was going to be, it brought up some interesting questions around contribution and legacy. We live in difficult times. It reminded me of a passage from Letter to a Young Activist by the great Clarissa Pinkola Estes. She wrote, “Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.” Healing ourselves IS how we will change the world. When you know better, you do better (*tips hat to Maya Angelou*). And when you learn, you can share that with those around you who are open to receiving it.
So, at its essence, Florence Divine is about sharing. It’s a community. We want to share the tools that have helped us so immeasurably and, as eternal seekers, gather those in who have more yet to teach us. To facilitate that learning for us all. In life, we are at times the student and at times the teacher – it’s a beautiful, natural, unending cycle. Let’s embrace it together. Some of us have been lucky to have great mentors and wise-ones to nurture us, others haven’t been so blessed. You might be well on your way, or you might be struggling to find where the path starts – the Florence Divine community is open to all who are trying – trying to make a better world, or just trying to get through the day.
We’re here on earth at a time of great change, a paradigm shift. We’re living through the return of the Divine Feminine (I’ll save THAT for another blog.) But what we’re starting to see is that the systems we have in place as a society aren’t really working out. The structures that are supposed to ‘take care’ of us, don’t have our best interests at heart. It’s hard, and heart-breaking, to even read the news anymore. So let us take heart in what we can do. Let’s be empowered by it, knowing that it has great impact. We do what we can, with what we have, where we are. It all starts with us. Our hope and our intention are powerful beyond words. And if it feels lonely, know that you’re not alone. That’s what Flo Divine is here for. We see you. We’re with you. We’re all working on ourselves together.
If you’ve somehow managed to find your way to this page, you’re already on your journey. Welcome, welcome. It’s a pleasure to have you here. If there are things we’ve talked about and you’d like to know more, drop us a line. If there are things we haven’t talked about, but you’d like us to, hit us up as well! We’re a community, after all.
Blessings,
Julia xx
